Stress: Nature of the Beast
by Richard Utt

Second Hand Text - Jacket shows signs of wear & tear, but hard cover in good condition except for dents in some corners. Text pages are in perfect condition, except for minor denting on some pages at the top of the book

This rare & huge compendium is one of the great works in the world of Kinesiology. The late Richard Utt, founder of Applied Physiology and a significant researcher and pioneer in the field, published a ground breaking text in the late 90's that gave science and credibility to Kinesiology, and especially to Applied Physiology.

It is a large and thick perfect bound hard cover text of 100's of pages that has been presented with an extreme number diagrams and charts, in the main, in full colour.  The different sections are also separated by coloured sheets for easy reference and identification.

While there is a description of this text below, no brief can outline the true extent of this publication - hence some pages have been scanned and presented in a pdf to view. Click here to see this.  Note that the quailty has been reduced to minimise the size of the file, but hopefully it still serves as a glimpse into the whole text.

'Stress: Nature of the Beast' is a map of Applied Physiology (AP):
It contains the course information from:

  • AP Holographic Muscle Monitoring
  • AP Hologram of 7 Element Acupressure
  • AP Hologram of Anatomy & Physiology

It begins with sections on what is AP and the History of Kinesiology.

Following that are large sections on:

  • The Cell
  • The 7 States of Stress
  • Histological Stress
  • Hand Modes (Finger Modes)
  • Various full charts

The remainder of the manual, which is the bulk of it, is where the Meridians are covered in huge detail from the AP perspective. Many pages are devoted to each meridian including:

  • Contraction & Extension pictures and description
  • 14 position range of motion
  • Neurolymphatics and Neurovasculars
  • Law of Seven Elements
  • Command Point Locations
  • The meridian & points themselves pictured
  • and many descriptive pages on the organ/function itself

Richard Utt's Stress: Nature of the Beast will appeal to anyone interested in AP, or anyone wanting to own a special & now rare, part of the pioneering work in the Kinesiology field that has helped bring everything to its point now. A collectors item, perhaps, that is also full of information.

Also comes with  covered wrap around flap for protection.
