The Phenomenon of Indicator Muscle Change

An Exploration of Its Validity and Meaning - by Dr. Anna E. Rolfes

Out of print, this book is very rare - not just because of scarcity, but becasue it is based on a research thesis - something not common in the kinesiology field.

In the 90's Anna carried out a PhD research project on the Phenomenon of Indicator Muscle Change. The results showed that the circuits of motor control, which sustain muscle tone, play an important role in the phenomenon of indicator muscle change. The subtle loss of neuro-muscular integrity on those levels when a stressful stimulus is introduced most likely elicits the transient loss of isometric muscle strength. The ability of the body to override “weaknesses” through voluntary effort and voluntary control of muscle action can mask outcomes.

A valuable resource for anyone looking for research on kinesiology, especially the motor-control circuits behind indicator muscle change. It’s particularly useful for students working on assignments in this area, and for researchers looking for earlier work on the subject.

This book is in very good condition, clean pages, some minor cover wear, see image above.
